When I heard that Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators (SMKC) were coming to Singapore, I immediately went online to buy a ticket. It was perhaps my most impulsive purchase because I bought the V.I.P ticket without hesitation, despite the price being a little too expensive for my wallet. I have been a fan of Slash and Myles Kennedy since young, so it would seem like a complete waste if I passed up the chance to go to the concert.
Singapore was the first leg of their Living The Dream tour. The 2-hour-long concert was held at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa on January 8th 2019. I managed to get to the centre in the second row. It was amazing to see the band up close, but it was phenomenal to hear them play. I could almost pass out remembering how Myles Kennedy grinned at me multiple times throughout the concert. He even thanked me at the end of the concert as he saw me sing along to every song. Todd Kerns gave me a very charming, almost intoxicating smirk at one point in the concert. Slash, on the other hand, was looking as good as ever on his guitar. He never missed a beat!
I was nervous about going to my first ever concert by myself. I was perhaps the youngest attendee that night. I made friends with another concert goer while we were waiting excitedly to enter the venue. It was an amazing feeling to finally have someone else who has the same interest as you and you can just geek out the entire time.
The band played a lot of new songs from their Living The Dream album, including 'The Call of the Wild', 'Serve You Right' and 'The Great Pretender'. The song 'Read Between the Lines' was played live for the very first time (as a Singaporean, I am honoured). The only Guns N' Roses song they played during the concert was 'Nightrain'. That was the loudest song everyone sang their hearts out. Todd Kerns had his fair share of singing two songs — 'We're All Gonna Die' and 'Doctor Alibi'. Check Todd Kerns out!
Every song was sang to perfection. Myles' voice is one of the best voices I have ever heard in my entire life. My favourite performances have to be 'Fall to Pieces' and 'Starlight'. Listen to Myles' charming voice in 'Starlight', a lovely ballad song:
Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end. They ended their concert with 'Anastasia' from their first studio album Apocalyptic Love. The crowd gave them a standing ovation as they went off the stage and retreated to their hotel rooms.
Being a first-timer and a huge fan, I took many videos and photos that night. At one point of time during the concert, my phone ran out of space! I managed to clear out what I didn't need without having to miss a moment of the concert. Big thanks to Todd Kerns for liking my photos (I was totally NOT screaming when I received the notifications)! You can check out the photos and videos on my Instagram accounts: @n.puteriain and @amaradulcephotography.
If SMKC were return to Singapore, you can bet that I will be there again.
